How OTA messaging works
Updated over 2 months ago

Note: OTA messaging applies to Homeaway/VRBO/Booking.com. Airbnb stays as a separate messaging option and needs to be setup separately.

In order for OTA messages to be sent successfully, there are a couple of things that need to be present:

  1. Guest's OTA email: this typically ends with the OTA's domain (@booking.com/@vrbo.com) and are temporary emails generated for the guests.

  2. Explicit automessage delivery via OTA can be created in your automessage setup.

The corresponding OTA messaging option will appear at the bottom when there's an available OTA email for the guest.

NOTE:

  1. If the guest does not update the email to their personal email and both OTA and email automessages are set up, this will send two notifications to the guest as both automessages will be sent to the OTA email address.

  2. An explicit OTA message needs to be set up in the automessages in order to send the message successfully via the available OTA messaging channel.
