How to set up Guest Verification

Updated over a week ago

Access verification settings

Go to a Listing Group → Guest Journey → Guest Verification

You can:

  • Use a template, which has recommended verification settings for non-Airbnb and Airbnb bookings including suggested partners for automated verification.

  • Create a new setting from scratch.

  • Copy existing verification settings you have used in other listings or listing groups.

Define when verification applies

Decide which listings and which types of bookings require verification.

You can set:

  • Scope: Apply to all listings or current listing group.

  • Conditions: e.g., bookings from Airbnb, less than 2 days before check-in, or guests without a “VIP” tag.

These filters help automate verification for only the cases you need.

Other useful conditions

  • 'Number of nights in Booking is greater or lesser than X': To segregate short-term vs. long-term bookings, you might need more information about the guest or have different agreements.

  • 'Booking created at is greater or lesser than X': Useful when transitioning to Enso Connect to segregate bookings confirmed before and after your switch to Enso Connect as bookings confirmed before your switch to Enso Connect might have already completed the fees, agreements, etc.

Configure the verification steps

Each section can be customized to fit your process:

🧾 Guest Information Collection

Collect basic guest information such as ETA, number of pets, preferred language, address, and more. Mark each field as required or optional. We recommend always collecting the phone number and email entered here to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.

Pro tip: Pet fees added in the Fees section require the '# of Pets' field in the form, as this is a pre-configured field.

Once the guest updates their name, phone number, and email, this information will be used in Enso moving forward and may differ from the data initially synced from your PMS. Learn how to prevent name changes here.

🪪 ID Collection

Choose the level of ID verification:

  1. None

If you don't add any setting here, your guests won't go through verification!

  2. Manual Collection and Review

The front, back, and a selfie will be collected in the Boarding Pass. This will be available within the guest's Booking Panel for your review and an Approve/Deny button will also appear to indicate your decision.

IDs collected will be stored in Enso Connect and will be available in the Verification Report alongside the Agreement you've set up in Enso Connect, if any.

  3. Automated Verifications

We provide a variety of verification and guarantee options through trusted partners:

    1. Autohost

    2. Superhog/Truvi

    3. Chekin

You will be able view more information regarding each guest's automated verification in the custom fields in the Inbox!

📜 Agreements

Add your listing agreement details here so that your guests have to sign as a verification step. Use placeholders like <guest_name> or <check_in_date> to personalize the text according to your guest's details. You can also add translated versions.

This section requires the guest to sign and submit and it will be saved in the guest Booking Panel for you to download when needed!

The Agreement section is a text-only field and if you have a PDF or a Word version of your current agreement, we recommend copying and pasting the content into the section.

Some agreements copied straight from a PDF file retain the PDF formatting, which causes the text to have incorrect spacing or a new line where there should not be any. We recommend pasting the copied content into a word processor, checking the formatting, and copy-pasting it again to Enso Connect.

🔓Permissions

These settings control what your guests can view and when they can view it within the Boarding Pass.

  • Manually approve guests to view check-in directions

    • Enable this if you don’t use ID collection or only collect IDs manually. You’ll need to review and approve each guest before they are verified in Enso.

  • Show guidebooks & upsells before verification

    • Turn this on if you want guests to access all Boarding Pass content (except check-in info) before completing verification. Enable this setting to increase your chances of upsell conversion!

  • Hide check-in directions until a specific time

    • Allows you to set a time when verified guests can view check-in instructions. Many hosts prefer to reveal this closer to check-in. If you keep this setting off, the instructions will only show exactly at check-in time!

  • Hide address until a specific time

    • Delay showing the property address until a chosen time. You can also disable this to show the address immediately upon guest verification.

  • Hide smart lock codes until a specific time

    • Smart lock access codes (generated via Enso) are active 2 hours before check-in. This setting lets you show or hide them earlier. If you keep this setting off, the code will only show exactly at check-in time!

Note: This applies only if your smart device is connected through Enso.

Tips for effective guest verification

  • Keep the flow simple — avoid too many required fields and keep in mind which fields you already have from the booking channel.

  • Test your verification journey with a sample booking. Notice you can also preview the verification during setup!

  • Duplicate existing setups to reuse across listings.

What guests will see

Guests will receive their boarding pass and navigate the verification settings like this:

What you will see

In the Booking Panel, you will be able to see each step your guests complete as they progress.
