Updated over 10 months ago

You can create your own custom fee - charging guests for a tourist tax, utility fee, cancellation fee, or anything that makes sense for your business.

Step 1: Click on Add Fee

Step 2: Select your Option

  • Create from Scratch - to create a custom fee that is not a safety deposit (hold), safety deposit (charge), and the Damage Waiver or Safety Deposit option.

  • Copy Existing - to copy from an existing set up fee in this group or a different one.

  • Create from template - to use one of our existing templates set up for fees.

Step 3: Click on Create from Scratch

Step 4: Connected Listings

Select whether this fee applies to all of your listings, this group of listings, or specific listings within this group.

Step 5: Conditions

Apply a condition to when this fee should or should not appear. This is especially help for automating edge cases.

💡 Here are a few examples:

Guest Tags

If you manually tag a guest, then show this fee. This should be done before the check-in process. An example can be: “If guest tag is not VIP” then have this fee. This means that if you tag VIP on the guest, they will skip this particular fee. You can also skip fees by doing so in the guest profile in your Unified Inbox, by click on Fees, and clicking skip.

Booking Lead Time

Create a fee only if the guest books within a specific time frame from the check-in date. This is especially helpful for last minute reservations. Select field: “If Booking Lead time”, then Comparison: “is greater than”, “is less than”, then select the time frame value: 0-999, then select the unit type “minute”, “hours”, “days”.

💡 Example: “If booking Lead time is less than 4 days”, translates to If the guest books within less than 4 days.

Booking Channel

Create a fee only if the guest books on a specific channel. Select field: “If Booking Channel”, then Comparison: “is” or “is not”, then select Channel: “Airbnb”, “VRBO”

Step 6: Description & Content

Make sure to Name your upsell, and add a description about what this fee is all about. You can include images, videos, text, and any other content that you see fit!
