8. Create and manage fees

Set up fees or deposits to cover extra costs or risks.

Fees let you collect charges such as security deposits, damage waivers, pet fees, utility charges, or tourist taxes from guests, often as part of the verification step before granting access.

Why it matters

  • Protects your business against damages.

  • Covers extra operational costs that are outside your nightly rate.

How fees work in Enso

  • Security deposit (hold): A temporary authorization amount held on the guest card, released 48 hours after checkout if no issues arise.

  • Damage waiver: A non-refundable fee covering accidental damages up to a defined amount.

  • Custom fees: Charges like pet fees or cleaning add-ons.

Guests must complete verification and any required fee payment (or hold authorization) before receiving their boarding pass or check-in details. All fees process through your connected Stripe account.

Best practices

  • Clearly describe fees so guests understand what they’re paying for.

  • Use required fees sparingly to reduce friction.

  • Combine fees with guest messages and explanations to reduce disputes.
